Protecting our Future
At Russborough, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. From achieving Zero Waste to Landfill to enhancing biodiversity in our Parklands, we’re committed to protecting our environment and preserving our heritage. Through innovative waste management, community projects, and conservation efforts, we’re working towards a greener future for all.

Going Green
In May 2023, we embarked on a mission to eliminate landfill waste. By April 2024, we achieved zero waste to landfill, underscoring our dedication to sustainable tourism. This accomplishment was made possible through:
Recycling and Composting
We removed general waste bins and introduced dedicated recycling stations throughout the estate, ensuring materials are either recycled or composted.
Sustainable Packaging
Our shop now uses shredded paper as packaging for online orders, and we have adopted recyclable or compostable bin bags.
Community Collaboration
Partnerships with The City Bin Company, the RHSI, and Gather & Gather have been instrumental in implementing sustainable waste management practices, including composting coffee grounds.

Biodiversity
Our Parklands are home to a diverse range of flora and fauna. We are committed to preserving and enhancing this biodiversity through responsible landscaping and conservation efforts. Initiatives such as the Wild at Heart project focus on creating species-rich grasslands and mown meadows, fostering a thriving ecosystem.

Community
We believe in the power of art and education to promote environmental consciousness. Collaborations like the Apollo Project with West Wicklow Youthreach students have resulted in artworks made entirely from textile waste materials, linking themes of redemption and sustainability with local history.
