You are always welcome here at Russborough but this time our doors are more than just open! We are now being captured internationally as Russborough is used as a top location on the latest Stephen Soderbergh movie.

This movie clearly is not for the faint hearted with Gina Carano kicking and punching her way from scene to scene but we were thrilled to hear her say

“Russborough, remember Russborough, not a who but a where, a place”. Haywire 2012, Gina Carano.

Russborough is indeed a beautiful, Palladian mansion, worthy of the big Hollywood screen but we still appreciate that it has finally been recognized internationally and respected by Stephen Soderbergh and we think Russborough gave a truly powerful performance! Ok, we know …. just as Gina reminded us it’s a not a who but a place and it was truly thrilling for us all to see Russborough shine on the big screen!

We hope you go and check out the movie, but make sure you eat lightly before hand! Well done Stephen and all the crew! We wish you lots of success with your movie release! Let’s hope we all win an oscar….

NEW for 2011 Season (From Easter 2011)

Marianne Faithful & Mick Jagger

New for the 2011 season is an extensive self guided exhibition to complement the guided tour of the main house. This exhibition includes interactive touch screens, audio listening handsets, slideshow presentation and cinema projections and films in the original Beit cinema.

Special features include:

* 3D photographs and 2D film from the 1920′s and 1930′s taken by Sir Alfred Beit on his world travels, as well as a selection of his extensive vinyl record collection and sheet music collections from the 1920′s onwards.

* Pictures and information about the various owners of Russborough from the time it was built in 1750 to the present day.

* Local history stories including the flooding of the Liffey Valley near Russborough in 1939, and the Blessington Tramway which stopped close to Russborough from 1888 to 1932.

Russborough can provide a wide range of activities for the family from crafts, walks, maze to interactive exhibition and guided tour of the house. You can view these activities by clicking the image at left. To plan your day you should allow approximately 1 hour for the exhibition, 1 hour for the guided tour, 30 minutes for the maze and you can have morning coffee and lunch if required. The Craft shops, which open at varying times, and walks can complete an event filled day.

New Beginnings at Russborough after the Fire in the West Wing

Following the fire damage to the West Wing in early February 2010 great progress has been made. A new Slate roof has been finished and the scaffolding removed in order to restore the facade at Russborough to its previous magnificence. The West Wing is being converted to create self catering accommodation for visitors under the stewardship of the Irish Landmark Trust. It is anticipated that by Autumn 2011 the restoration will be complete and the accommodation will be available to domestic and international visitors alike. . More Click Here

New Enterprise Workshops
Russborough has introduced a number of permanent workshops at the house, which are open on several weekdays and also on Saturday.
